HeartSmart

Holy Trinity is proud to be a HeartSmart school!

PSHE & RSE teaching at Holy Trinity follows the ‘HeartSmart’ scheme. HeartSmart is a creative new approach that we're using to build character, emotional health and resilience in children.  Our aim is to equip our pupils with a healthy internal dialogue and resilient approach to life through high-quality learning opportunities which link closely to our school values and church-school ethos. At Holy Trinity, we want everyone to know that they are loved, cared for and valued.  Through following HeartSmart, pupils engage in learning experiences told through stories to build healthy thinking, covering topics such as self-love, relationships with others, emotions, truthfulness and resilience. We recognise the value of educating the heart alongside educating the mind. We are using HeartSmart to do just that!

There are some fun phrases that are part of the program and I’m sure you’ll start hearing them in your home as well. They’re called the HeartSmart High Five and here’s a brief overview:

You may also hear about Boris the Robot. Made from bits and bobs of recycled rubbish, he plays an important role in HeartSmart. We follow his story of learning not to listen to the Scrapman's voice (who says he belongs on the scrapheap) through reading and referring to the book Boris the Robot.

HeartSmart Family offers videos and activities which enable parents and carers to get involved in their child's learning at home!
